Four Ways to Easily Manage Your Bookkeeping

How to Better Handle Your Bookkeeping

Four Ways to Easily Manage Your Bookkeeping

If you're like most entrepreneurs, you're not only busy but you have the most fun when you're working on projects and directly with clients. The behind-the-scenes tasks, such as bookkeeping, can bring your creative flow to a halt. Especially if it's become a tedious and time-consuming chore. Introducing efficient systems and collaborating with the right people can free up a lot of your time allowing you to get back to doing what you love!

Here are four ways to streamline + easily manage your bookkeeping:

  1. Use a cloud accounting software. There are many cloud solutions out there to fill a variety of needs and budgets. My go-to is QuickBooks for its ease of use and performance value. Other popular options are Xero and Wave. Implementing cloud accounting software is a must for easy collaboration with other users, such as employees or your financial team. With QuickBooks Online, you can access your data from your phone, tablet, or laptop and anywhere with a secure internet connection.
  2. Connect Apps. The more we use technology, the more we need services to integrate. There are systems we depend on heavily to run our business and we need all of them to be best friends—sync seamlessly! Enter apps.com. Integrations range from time-tracking to CRM to tax planning. These can all be a lifesaver for businesses needing those extra functionalities that an accounting software alone cannot provide. Many are huge time-savers too!
  3. Schedule the time. Set aside time every week or month to go over your bookkeeping. If it's on your calendar, you are more likely to get it done. Depending on your business size and volume of transactions, your bookkeeping may be a collaborative effort. However it is handled, make sure you have dedicated time to review your financial reports, get your questions answered, and make improvements where necessary.
  4. Outsource. If keeping your books up-to-date adds unwanted stress to your day, then outsourcing is a great option! Working with a bookkeeper, locally or remotely, can help relieve you of the extra workload. This collaboration also ensures your financials stay current and that you have an expert on your side to guide you through areas that you're not feeling too sure about.
